Now in its 13th year, the Bedford Team Triathlon Relays, proudly sponsored by Zone3, returns to the stunning Box End venue, offering a unique team-based relay format that’s as competitive as it is fun. Whether you’re part of a club, a group of friends, or trying a triathlon for the first time, this event is designed to deliver an unforgettable race day.

The Team Relay Format

Teams of three race together, tagging each other through each discipline.

• All three complete the swim, one after the other (750m each)
• Then all three complete the bike, one after the other (23km each)
• Then all three complete the run, one after the other (5km each)

Athlete 1 goes first, then Athlete 2, then Athlete 3 — for swim, bike and run.

Everyone completes all three disciplines, with a tag between each teammate.

The Course

Swim – 750m (Box End Lake)
A well-organised, staggered start ensures a smooth and stress-free experience, even for first-timers.

Bike – 23km
A single-lap course on local roads with a mix of countryside lanes and faster sections. Clearly marked and easy to follow.

Run – 5km
A flat, fast route around Box End—perfect for strong finishes and team celebrations.

Team Categories & Prizes

Compete for team podium places across:

• Open, Open Veteran (45+)
• Female, Female Veteran (45+)
• Mixed, Mixed Veteran (45+)

Prizes are awarded to the top 3 teams in each category.

Event Details

• Registration: From 06:30 – Team Captains collect for their teams, provided that they have either the BTF Race Pass or payment
• Location: Box End Park, Bedford
• Distance: Sprint Triathlon (per athlete)
• Teams: Limited to 144 teams
• Course Record: 3:36:22 (Cambridge Triathlon Club, 2025)

This event sells out, sign your team up early.

Entry Fees

• The entry fee is £183 per team. Non-BTF team members must also purchase a RacePass for £8 during the entry process. 

•  If you are entering multiple teams (5 or more), you will receive a 10% discount. 

Requirements

To take part, all athletes must:

• Be a member of British Triathlon or have purchased a RacePass during the entry process
• Be 15 years or older by 31st December of the event year
• Follow British Triathlon race rules (helmets mandatory)

What you’ll need

• Wetsuit (optional, but recommended). No wetsuit? Rentals are available via Zone3
• Roadworthy bike
• Helmet (compulsory)
• Running gear
• Team spirit!

On the Day

• Race briefing: Sent via YouTube before the event
• Medical support: On-site throughout
• Facilities: Toilets, transition area, refreshments available
• No aid stations on course – plan your hydration accordingly
